PROBLEM: | Bowl does not run, or runs slowly or erratically
Possible Electrical Issues:
| |
Unit not plugged in / plug has become disconnected
Power cord or plug is damaged
Fuse blown in control
Coil has failed
Possible Mechanical Issues:
| |
Bowl or drive unit making contact with other equipment
Mounting pads (feet) have come loose
Toe clamps have come loose
Table is flexing or not firmly attached to floor
External vibration is being transferred to bowl
Parts are oilier or greasier than those the bowl is tooled for
Bowl is overloaded with parts
Spring(s) cracked or broken
PROBLEM: | Parts move slowly and all possible causes above have been eliminated
Issue: | Bowl is out of tune |
Solution: | From time to time it may become necessary to tune the bowl. You are effectively tuning the mechanical resonant frequency of the bowl.
| |
1)Turn the bowl ON
2)Place one or two layers of parts in the bottom of the bowl
3)Loosen the bolt(s) on one end of any spring pack
If part movement slows down, the bowl is UNDERTUNED. Turn bowl off and add one spring and spacers to one of the spring packs, making sure the bolts are long enough, and tighten the bolts. Recheck the tuning.
If part movement speeds up, the bowl is OVERTUNED. Turn bowl off and remove one spring, and tighten the bolts. Recheck the tuning. You may need the next thinner spring in place of the one just removed - call the factory for advice on what springs are available.

PROBLEM: | Coil Striking (making severe hammering noise)
Issue: | Coil gap has closed |
| Solution: | Turn equipment OFF. Check the coil gap by slipping a feeler gage between the coil face and the pole face. Compare with the specifications on pages 1 and 2 of your owner's manual. If the coil gap has changed, use the push-pull screws at the back of the coil to reset the appropriate coil gap. Be sure to set the coil square to the pole face.
